Accountancy & Finance Recruitment Growth

Accountancy & Finance Recruitment Growth AccountancyFinance Recruitment Growth 11 Sep 2015 Joe Savidge As a recruiter, one of the questions that I’m regularly asked is “what are the accountancy and finance recruitment market conditions for senior interim positions in the Central Belt?”   The state of the job market is always influenced by external forces. We’ve witnessed vacancies plummet due to the economic recession, political uncertainty around the Scottish referendum led to employers slowing their recruitment processes and the current downturn of the oil and gas market is having an impacting on vacancies in the Central Belt.   But what’s on the horizon for the accountancy and finance job market? After the New Year, people tend to look for new roles, particularly as this time of year is mostly associated with making a change.   The market accelerates quickly through the early part of the year, and typically slows around Easter for the holiday period.   After Easter, those who have held off changing roles on a permanent basis through January to March tend to enter the market.   This trend continues usually until the summer months where, once again, the holiday season reduces the pace of how many people are employed and how quickly they are hired.   Post summer, candidate activity picks up again.   It’s at this time of year that we tend to find that the accountancy market is at its most buoyant.   It’s at this time of year that companies look to hire more staff to drive the business forward, particularly around the half financial year mark.   Whilst these are many of the typical issues that we can usually predict each year, there are obviously market conditions that we cannot predict.   So far, 2015 has seen an incredible start to the year, a steady and consistent summer with an abundance of candidates changing roles will lead towards a strong end to the year.   This is further illustrated by the volume of roles I am working on; the first five months of this year are comparable to that of a full year previously.   Are you looking to recruit an interim or contract role, then get in touch today to discover how we can help your business grow.   Why not also browse our latest temporary and contract accountancy and finance jobs?
